How Do We Save Democracy? A Conversation with Philosopher Raphael Liogier

How Do We Save Democracy? A Conversation with Philosopher Raphael Liogier

The great debates among America’s Founding Fathers continue to this day. On the one hand, Jefferson advocated for: “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We fought for these ideals, we shouldn’t settle for less.” But Hamilton saw a nation of opportunists and self-promoters taking shape, saying “if you stand for nothing, what will you fall for?” Democracy in America and around the world is now in jeopardy, according to French Philosopher Raphael Liogier. “Although we know that success defined by vast quantities of things cannot replace real quality, we allow ourselves to be seduced and idolize people, things, positions that are fake, so long as enough people believe in them.” Liogier will pick up the debate and offer ideas about how to save democracy.
