Free Concert by Internationally Renowned Harpist Li Shan Tan
Enjoy an enchanting afternoon of music on Sunday May 4th with internationally renowned harpist Li Shan Tan. She is the Winner of the International Mexico Harp Competition and has over 2 million YouTube views. She will perform works by DeFalla, Ravel, Grandjany and more. The program will take place from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Saint Thomas More Chapel at Yale at 268 Park Street in New Haven. It is sponsored by the CT Chapter of the American Harp Society and it is free and open to the public.
Li Shan Tan won the VI Mexico International Harp Competition in 2022 and is about to head to Indiana to compete in the 2025 USA International Harp Competition. She appeared as a soloist alongside cellist Yo-Yo Ma with the Boston Symphony at the 2024 Tanglewood Music Festival. Li Shan Tan’s love for the harp has spurred countless projects and performances internationally, and she loves to showcase the harp in new, different and unexpected ways. Her You Tube shenanigans of recreating video game sounds from "Among Us" on the Harp is currently at 2.19 million views. Li Shan has shared the stage with groups ranging from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra to the Silk Road Ensemble to The Beach Boys. She recently performed two sold-out shows as a soloist with Vista Philharmonic Orchestra and was the 2022 Borromeo String Quartet Guest Artist.
