Family Orchestra Concert presented by the University Orchestra at Staller Center

Family Orchestra Concert presented by the University Orchestra at Staller Center

The annual Family Orchestra Concert will be presented by the University Orchestra with conductor Susan Deaver on Tuesday, February 24 at Staller Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. Free Admission! This one-hour interactive concert is an annual favorite of the Stony Brook community and their families. This year’s theme – “Music from Broadway & Opera”– features music that captivates listeners of all ages with a wide variety of orchestral sounds of the strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion in a kaleidoscope of rhythms along with musical elements of dynamics, driving and smooth tempos and moods. Featured music will include opera music by Rameau and Bizet’s Carmen along with Broadway highlights from Phantom of the Opera, Wicked and West Side Story. Joining the University Orchestra is Wanmei Zhang, mezzo-soprano, who will perform in arias from Bizet’s well-known opera “Carmen”. For further information about the University Orchestra, contact the Stony Brook Department of Music at 631.632-7330 or visit their website at www.stonybrook.edu/music.
