Annual Messiah Sing-Along & Seasonal Favorites - Free Concert
A seasonal traditional concert at Stony Brook University features members of the University Orchestra, vocal soloists, and conductors in a performance of Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, December 7 at 3 p.m. in the Recital Hall at Staller Center at Stony Brook University. Choruses from Part One and the Hallelujah Chorus will all be sung by the audience! Vocal scores will be available for purchase for $10 cash at the door.
Solo vocalists will include undergraduate, graduate and DMA students Shuqi Yang, soprano; Wanmei Zhang, mezzo-soprano; Yiran Xing, tenor and Philip Chen, bass. Conductors of the Messiah Chamber Orchestra are Susan Deaver and Hanbo Wang. Assisting with conducting are Anthony Jackalone, Chao-Chih George Chen and Anyi Cai. Zicheng Gu is the solo trumpet in “The Trumpet Shall Sound”.

The concert will also feature the University Orchestra’s Brass Ensemble and Festival Chamber Orchestra performing music of Corelli, Vaughan Williams and seasonal favorites to include the audience singing with conductors Zitian Lyu and Keaton Walsh and assisted by Karen Li.
