The seven-day African-American festival which begins Friday, is a spiritual holiday created by Africans who were born in America.

To celebrate Kwanzaa, our music includes Joyful Day from the African Suite by Fela Sowande starting at 9 a.m. on 91.1 and 107.5 FM and our music stream.

Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Kate Remington joined WSHU in December of 2000, and she's been WSHU's Music Director since 2002.
