Senate Committee Approves Kagan Nomination
The Senate Judiciary Committee has voted to approve the nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court. The 13-6 vote sends Kagan's nomination to the full Senate. Lindsey Graham was the only Republican on the panel to vote in favor of Kagan.

Poverty Rate Unchanged, But Still Historically High

Judge vacates murder conviction of Chicago man wrongfully imprisoned for 35 years
Brian Beals was convicted in the 1988 murder of a 6-year-old. At the time, Beals, a 22-year-old student at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, was home in Chicago during Thanksgiving break.
