Connecticut will allow in-person high school graduation ceremonies starting next month. Governor Ned Lamont signed the executive order Wednesday.
Lamont says in-person outdoor graduation ceremonies of up to 150 students will be allowed to begin on July 6.
“It’s a sign of progress. It’s a sign that we are cautiously getting back to the new normal.”
He says school districts would have to follow certain health and safety protocols, but he’s sure seniors will have a memorable graduation.
“This is a graduation that may not be the one you expected, but it will be one you will never forget.”
Lamont says the state’s COVID19 death rate has dropped dramatically, but we are still in a pandemic and have to remain cautious.
