New York Governor Andrew Cuomo conducts briefing on Saturday, March 28, 2020

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says President Trump did not discuss a possible quarantine for New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey when the two spoke on Saturday morning.

“I don’t even know what that means”, Cuomo said.  I don’t know how that could be legally enforceable, and from a medical point of view I don’t know what you would be accomplishing. But I can tell you I don’t even like the sound of it. Not even understanding what it is, I don’t like the sound of it.”

In a statement, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont said he has already advised residents to "stay home", and to self quarantine if interstate travel is necessary. He says he hopes to speak to the president directly, because "confusion leads to panic."

Trump tweeted that a decision will be made “shortly”. He has since clarified it would be only for people leaving the region, but did not say how it would be enforced.
