Beautiful Music NOW - Ethel Smyth

George Grantham Bain Collection; Restored by Adam Cuerden

Composer Ethel Smyth lived from 1858 to 1944, and was an accomplished and respected musician. In 1888 she composed The Songs of Love, Op. 8, for soprano and tenor, chorus and orchestra, and the work remained unpublished. Only recently, THE SONGS OF LOVE received its first performance. Today's Beautiful Music features Christ Church Cathedral's world premiere performance of the cantata.

Suzanne Bona is the host and executive producer of Sunday Baroque, a nationally syndicated weekly radio show of Baroque and early music which she originated on WSHU in 1987.
