The MTA Office of the Inspector General found that a former Long Island Rail Road foreman submitted false time records to increase his pay.

MTA investigators monitored Robert Murphy 12 times during his scheduled work hours between March 30 and June 14, 2018. The investigation was launched by his high rate of overtime pay.

On 10 separate occasions he was spotted at or near his house while on the clock.

Murphy earned over $280,000 in 2018.

A letter from the inspector general recommended the LIRR discipline and terminate Murphy. However, he resigned before LIRR officials could take action.

A report by the inspector general did not discuss criminal charges.
