Classical Music Highlight: One-Trick Composer?

These days, most folks know Amilcare Ponchielli by one piece, “Dance of the Hours.” But he was so much more than the tune for “Hello Mother, Hello Father” used by comedian Alan Sherman. This afternoon we’ll have a chance to hear music that’s equally amusing, but not necessarily funny -- his “Three Piano Pieces” are up in the 1 o’clock hour!

For more than 20 years, Lauren has demystified classical music for her audiences by taking it off a dusty old pedestal and putting it into a modern context. She lives on Long Island with her husband and two punky schnauzers.
