17. It’s a year of driver’s licenses, proms and college applications. But not for Felix Mendelssohn. For him, 17 was a year of career-defining success. Listen this afternoon as we hear the piece that set the bar for the rest of his life, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream Overture.”

For more than 20 years, Lauren has demystified classical music for her audiences by taking it off a dusty old pedestal and putting it into a modern context. She lives on Long Island with her husband and two punky schnauzers.
