Gustav Holst wasn’t just a great composer, he was a great educator. He knew just how to get the best from his students…providing them with music that they were capable of playing, but that also challenged them. The result was an amateur orchestra that was the envy of every composer in the country. Today on Afternoon Classics, music written for the girls at the St. Paul’s School. 

For more than 20 years, Lauren has demystified classical music for her audiences by taking it off a dusty old pedestal and putting it into a modern context. She lives on Long Island with her husband and two punky schnauzers.
