Connecticut’s two Democratic U.S. senators have urged their Republican colleagues to join in a demand that federal agencies officially begin the presidential transition process.

Senator Chris Murphy said Republicans should support legislation to start the transition process if President Donald Trump continues to refuse to concede to President-elect Joe Biden.

“If my Republicans colleagues who are beginning to talk about the importance of this transition beginning are serious then they should begin to put their votes where their words are,” Murphy said.

Senator Richard Blumenthal said all Republicans should speak out.

“Whether it’s at the state or local level or in the United States Senate. Because the silence of our colleagues is enabling the President of the United States to betray our national security. It’s that simple,” Blumenthal said.

Some Republican senators have said that Biden should begin to receive the presidential daily briefing from the national security agencies.
