Vaccine Exemption Case Heads To Hartford Superior Court

A superior court judge in Hartford will consider whether to dismiss a case brought by a Bristol couple against the state. The couple wants to stop Connecticut from releasing data about vaccine exemptions.

The Connecticut Health Department released data earlier this year showing the percentage of students in each town who were exempt from vaccinations for religious or health reasons.

The couple wants the health department to remove that data from its website and not to release it in the future.

An attorney for the state has asked the court to dismiss the case because the parents haven’t proved the data harmed them.

The couple says the data led to hateful statements on the internet about parents who don’t vaccinate their children.

Connecticut lawmakers considered a bill to end the religious vaccine exemption, but were unable to agree on whether unvaccinated children could return to school.

Davis Dunavin loves telling stories, whether on the radio or around the campfire. He started in Missouri and ended up in Connecticut, which, he'd like to point out, is the same geographic trajectory taken by Mark Twain.
