Gino Macchio Foundation's Rock'n Recovery Concert August 23, 2024

Gino Macchio Foundation's Rock'n Recovery Concert August 23, 2024

The Gino Macchio Foundation is kicking off National Recovery Month a bit early! The Foundation is sponsoring a concert on Friday August 23, from 7 to 9:30pm at North Babylon's Phelps Lane Park in support of those in sustained recovery and for those who need a helping hand to get there.

Gold Dust Woman performs the best hits of Fleetwood Mac and Steve Nicks in an evening of music and vocals by Janet Soluri, who Stevie Nicks has given her personal seal of approval!

The event takes place by the lake behind the Babylon Town Parks & Recreation Building. While some seating is available, please bring chairs for your comfort. Admission to the event is free, though a suggested donation of $25 would be a great way to support the Gino Macchio Foundation’s Put Recovery to Work program. There will be raffles and if you get hungry check out the food truck.

Please RSVP before the big night at https://givebutter.com/GMFRocknRecovery2024

About the Foundation: The Gino Macchio Foundation’s Put Recovery to Work program’s mission is inspired by the late Gino Macchio.

Gino’s journey began with a dirt bike accident. His prescription opioids led to an addiction that he was able to overcome with the help of dedicated counselors, strong family support, and a job that he loved as an oyster farmer. Gino was always the first to help others and his heart desired to help those in all kinds of recovery. Unfortunately, in 2018 his life was cut short in a left-turn motorcycle accident, which sadly is a leading cause of death in motorcycle accidents.

Family and friends established The Gino Macchio Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization, in his honor so that others may gain the same sense of purpose that meaningful employment gave to Gino in his recovery journey. Gino’s motto “I Got You” pays it forward to those in need of a second chance. The Put Recovery to Work program works with substance use counselors to identify clients under their care who demonstrate a strong commitment to remaining in recovery and who sincerely need a financial boost to remove barriers that prevent them from getting back into the workforce. The Foundation selects the Scholarship awardees from applications submitted through their counselors. Awards in the amount of $15,000 are customized to the awardee’s needs and can be put toward employment subsidies paid to the employer as a hiring incentive, covering costs such as Uber rides to and from work, car insurance premiums, housing assistance, work attire, tuition assistance and more.
