Three children in the Yale New Haven Health System in Connecticut are being monitored for an inflammatory syndrome linked to COVID-19. Health officials say the condition is similar to toxic shock syndrome and Kawasaki disease.

A group of small independent hospitals in Connecticut say the increasing cost of providing health care coupled with lower reimbursement rates from insurance providers and the government is making it harder for them to survive. 

The Value Care Alliance is an association of seven of Connecticut's smaller hospitals.  Members of the alliance say they are finding it hard to compete with the state's two large teaching hospital systems and a for-profit national chain.

A new federal report on the emergency preparedness and response of tri-state area hospitals during Superstorm Sandy says many of them were unprepared to deal with the challenges they faced.  The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) found most of the hospitals had been cited before the storm for a lack of preparedness.
