John Swihart and co-composer Tyler Bates created a soundtrack for Far Cry New Dawn that plays off the ideas of instruments made from scavenged parts, and the vibrancy of the Super Bloom.

Joe Henson and Alexis Smith, collectively known as The Flight, say composing the soundtrack for Assassin's Creed Odyssey was a dream project. They were able to spend 18 months immersing themselves in discovering and recreating the sound of ancient Greek music and instruments and adapting it to fit the massive story and landscape of Assassin's Creed Odyssey. As they told me, their first step was to go shopping for authentic instruments – one of their favorite pastimes.

Grant Kirkhope says he was stunned when he found out that instead of a new Rabbids game, he'd be working on a totally new idea: Mario and Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. As he told me in our conversation, once he realized he'd be drawing on Koji Kondo's legendary music for Mario, he was in shock!

Eagle Flight, Ubisoft's new Virtual Reality game, lets you soar as an eagle above a future Paris, populated only by animals. Inon Zur composed the score, which he told me presented some interesting challenges:

Far Cry Primal, from Ubisoft, takes us back in time. Waaaaaay back! To 10,000 BCE, in fact. Composing the music created a unique challenge for Jason Graves, who assembled a Stone Age "shopping list" of bones, rocks, antlers and rattles to create a score that's as visceral as the game. I talked with Jason about how he unleashed his inner caveman.
