Opioid Crisis Fuels Sex Trafficking On Long Island

Authorities say the opioid epidemic has created a new problem on Long Island. The drug crisis makes it easy for gangs and drug dealers to make money from sex trafficking.

Opponents of bills to decriminalize prostitution in New York say it will only strengthen the worldwide sex trafficking industry and increase incidents of abuse in New York. Anti sex trafficking groups and their allies spoke out at the state Capitol.

Sen. Blumenthal Pushes For Anti-Sex Trafficking Bill

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., is pushing for a vote in the Senate on a bill that will combat sex trafficking. The Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act, or SESTA, would allow prosecutors and victims to hold websites liable for knowingly facilitating sex trafficking.
