U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and Representative Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut have reintroduced legislation that would help create a vaccine that could protect against multiple strains of the flu virus and offer longer lasting protection.

They say the current flu vaccine is ineffective for most people this season.

The Flu Vaccine Act brings $1 billion of investment through 2024 for the National Institutes of Health to research and create a vaccine.
