Legislation to make one clean energy source more affordable in New York appears to be stuck on Governor Andrew Cuomo's desk. But advocates of geothermal heating and cooling want Cuomo to sign the bill.

Supporters point out that geothermal reduces greenhouse gases by using the earth to heat and cool buildings. They are questioning Governor Cuomo's commitment to the environment as he continues to delay approval of a package of tax credits. 

New York Officials To Unveil Wind Energy Plan

A blueprint of New York State’s plans for offshore wind energy is expected to be released this month. The plan includes potential sites for turbines in the federal waters off the coast of Long Island.

In Rhode Island the final stage of construction is set to begin on the nation’s first offshore wind farm. The Block Island Wind Farm includes five turbines that will supply energy to the island and to mainland Rhode Island.

Meanwhile, the company, Deepwater Wind, is looking to build another – much larger – offshore wind farm nearby that would supply energy to Long Island.
