Surveillance video released Monday by the Norwalk, Connecticut Police Department shows two officers approach state Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff with a spitting gesture before entering the building.
The July incident sparked state Capitol police to guard Duff’s Norwalk home. Duff says he was bullied and cursed at by Norwalk officers after he was invited to speak to the police union’s executive board to discuss his role in passing the new police accountability bill.
The legislation bans chokeholds and creates a decertification process that would end the hiring of officers fired from one department for law enforcement jobs in other towns.
Norwalk Police Union President had denied the incident ever occured.
