An MIT researcher charged with killing a Yale grad student is being held on a $20 million bond following a court hearing in New Haven.

State Superior Court Judge Brian Fischer formally charged Qinxuan Pan with fatally shooting 26-year-old Kevin Jiang.

In addition to the bond, Fischer also issued a protective order for Jiang’s fiancee and transferred Pan’s case to the state courthouse for June 1.

In February, Jiang was found lying by his car with multiple gunshot wounds near the Yale University campus.
