A water main break created a sinkhole along Eastern Street in New Haven early Thursday morning.
The area has been closed to traffic and residents of six condo units nearby were evacuated and will not be allowed back to their homes until the sinkhole is fixed.
According to the Regional Water Authority, a service line that runs from the water main to the building broke around 3:00 a.m.
Officials say when they arrived the sinkhole was 4 feet in diameter, but eventually more than doubled in size.
There were no injuries reported.
