Long Island Prepares For Phase Three Reopening

Jun 19, 2020

Long Island is on track to enter Phase Three of reopening on Wednesday. Indoor dining at restaurants and more personal care businesses, like nail salons and spas, will be open.

The next phase will allow larger gatherings of people and indoor dining with restrictions for safety.

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says the safety protocols are necessary to keep people healthy.

“I think our residents and our businesses really do take seriously the social distancing and the PPE that we know will allow us to reopen safely. I don’t think any business owner takes reopening lightly and understands the importance of these protocols.”

Phase Four, the last stage, will reopen gyms, casinos, movie theatres and amusement parks. Long Island could reach it in another two weeks.

Meanwhile, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has threatened to shut down beach communities on Long Island if officials don’t enforce social distancing and cases spike.
