Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has received his highest job approval rating for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. But that's not the case for President Donald Trump.
A Sacred Heart University/Hartford Courant poll finds that Lamont gets more than 65% approval for his handling of the coronavirus crisis. On the other hand, Trump is at 39.9% approval. Lesley DeNardis, director of the Institute for Public Policy at Sacred Heart University, says Lamont has benefited from a daily news briefing.
“They do see him genuinely trying to grapple with a very difficult crisis, and I think he is certainly earnest in his desire to find help for Connecticut. To get that emergency declaration from the federal government, to work with the president, all to really help the citizens of Connecticut.”
The phone and digital survey of 1,000 Connecticut residents was conducted between March 24 and April 3. It has an error rate of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
