Gahan Wilson, New Yorker Cartoonist And Sag Harbor Resident, Dies At 89

Cartoonist and longtime Sag Harbor resident Gahan Wilson died last month. 

Wilson’s best known work appeared in Playboy, The New Yorker and National Lampoon, where his regular comic strip, “Nuts,” highlighted the world of childhood trauma.

He had said in interviews his inspiration was genetic. His great-uncle was circus showman and Bridgeport Mayor P.T. Barnum.  

Wilson had advanced dementia and other health issues. He died at a memory care facility in Arizona.

He was 89.
