Blumenthal And Murphy Praise DACA Decision

Jun 18, 2020

Connecticut’s two U.S. senators, Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, applaud the U.S. Supreme Court’s DACA decision. Both Democrats say Congress should now create a pathway to citizenship for DREAMers and their parents.

Blumenthal says the decision is a victory for the rule of law and should compel lawmakers in Congress to take up comprehensive immigration reform.

“I am determined to work for comprehensive immigration reform because this victory is only a reprieve. The Dreamers need and deserve permanent status and a pathway to citizenship.”

Murphy says immigration reform will be a campaign issue in November.

“If Donald Trump wins, he will absolutely come back and take another shot at removing the DREAMers. If Joe Biden wins, then we are going to have a chance at passing a comprehensive immigration bill. It's that simple.”

Of the 800,000 DREAMers affected by the Supreme Court decision, 10,000 live in Connecticut.
