Voting rights advocates want more early polling centers with longer hours across Suffolk County.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a law in January to permit early voting statewide. But some voters say the Board of Elections’ current plan to implement the new law falls short.
“The ‘one site per town’ plan creates a situation where for far too many working families and minority communities in Suffolk’s largest towns, the greater access intended by the new law – especially if not corrected for 2020 – will remain out of reach. We need to fix that,” said Jarret Berg, co-founder of VoteEarlyNY.
Voters can begin to cast ballots October 26, nine days before Election Day.
