Connecticut House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora is warning about the growing dangers of counterfeit pills that contain fentanyl.

Candelora said that many of these pills have been bought and used by adults and teens without the knowledge they may be deadly.

“With the stigma of drug use on the decline, we’re beginning to see people inadvertently purchase and taking these substances, 90% of which are illegally counterfeit manufactured,” Candelora said.

Bob Lawlor is a Drug Intelligence Officer with the Office of National Drug Control Policy. He said that the counterfeit fentanyl pills are widely available both online and on the street. He said users need to know the dangers.
