A Connecticut woman has filed a lawsuit against Uber over an alleged rape in 2019.

The lawsuit accuses Uber of negligence for not properly providing a safe environment for intoxicated people to get home safely.

The woman is not named in the lawsuit. She accuses former Uber driver, Nour Awad, who was charged with second-degree sexual assault in July 2019 and is awaiting a criminal trial.

Her attorney said the woman has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and seeks over $15,000 in compensation.

In 2019, Uber released a report that found the company received over 5,000 sexual assault allegations in 2017 and 2018.
