Attorneys for families of the victims of the 2012 Newtown shooting say conspiracy theorist Alex Jones is trying to stall their lawsuit against him.

The families are suing Jones for defamation for his claims that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that killed 20 children and six educators was a hoax.

An attorney for the families said Jones filed a motion a few minutes before midnight to have the case transferred to a federal court. The attorney called the move a well-known stalling tactic.

Jones’s move came minutes before an order to depose his accountant and executive assistant went into effect. Attorneys for the families say Jones is terrified the depositions will reveal truths about himself and his business practices.
