In Norwich, Connecticut, the William W. Backus Hospital and Windham Hospital will reinstate visitor restrictions for all inpatient and outpatient locations after a recent spike in COVID-19 cases.

The state Department of Health issued a COVID-19 alert for the city which reported 27 new cases on Thursday, the highest daily report since the pandemic began.

Donna Handley, president of Backus and Windham Hospitals tells Norwich Bulletin they are doing everything they can to protect residents from this health crisis and maintaining safe facilities.

The spike in cases in Norwich led to an increase in testing sites over the weekend.
