Suffolk County lawmakers will set up a task force to study the impact of COVID-19 and to make recommendations on how the county can better prepare for the next pandemic.

The task force will study how the coronavirus has affected the county’s economy, labor force and health.

The group will include officials from the departments of social services and economic development, and doctors from Stony Brook University Hospital.

More than 2,000 Suffolk County residents have died of COVID-19.
