New York State Senator Todd Kaminsky is one of six Democratic lawmakers on Long Island to come under scrutiny for accepting donations from law enforcement unions.

Bail reform advocates in New York have released a report that criticizes state senators from Long Island for taking campaign contributions from law enforcement unions.

The civil rights advocacy groups Citizen Action and Center for Community Alternatives say the campaign donations may have influenced the lawmakers’ votes to modify bail reforms.

They say the six Democratic senators from Long Island have collectively received more than $130,000 from law enforcement unions and led the charge in the Senate to roll back bail reform and leave more people in jail.

Spokespeople for State Senators Todd Kaminsky and Anna Kaplan have dismissed the criticism and say they are not beholden to any campaign contributor.
