A video that has gone viral on social media appears to show a Nassau County police officer causing a protester to bump into him, leading to arrests.
The video got thousands of views on social media sites like Twitter and Reddit. It shows a march in East Meadow. A protestor is walking behind a Nassau County police officer, with several other officers flanking him.
When the protester turns left, the officer abruptly stops. Several other officers then grab the man and force him to the ground.
“Don’t touch him!” “Back up! Back up!”
Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder defended police actions.
“There’s videos out there that show the positive interactions of our officers. But they don’t show them. They only show the negative.”
Three people were arrested during the protest.
