The city council in Bridgeport, Connecticut, will consider a list of accountability measures for police in the state’s largest city.
Officials say the proposals are in response to the police killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.
They would ban the types of knee and chokeholds used by police in the killing.
“We want to ensure that the Bridgeport community as a whole starts to see a reflective change in the way we police, our hard conversations,” said City Council President Aidee Nieves.
The measures would also give police de-escalation training and require them to use body cameras when dealing with the public.
Another proposal would require the department pay out settlements for use of excessive force from the police overtime budget.
