Protestors block traffic before marching on the Post Road in Fairfield, Connecticut, Tuesday.

Protests continued across Connecticut today — and some towns and smaller cities had their first protests against the police killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.

“Black lives matter! Black lives matter!”

Several hundred people shut down the Post Road during a peaceful protest in downtown Fairfield, chanting “Black Lives Matter” and other slogans. Robert Benjamin said he came because it’s important to be a white ally in this mostly white town.

“Some people are trying to portray it as an us against them situation, where us is white people and them is black people. And that’s not what it is at all. We have to be all in this together to fight the inherent racism in our system, and it takes white people to recognize that to make it happen.”

Protests also took place in Wilton, South Windsor and other smaller cities and towns across the state.

Davis Dunavin loves telling stories, whether on the radio or around the campfire. He started in Missouri and ended up in Connecticut, which, he'd like to point out, is the same geographic trajectory taken by Mark Twain.
