Nassau Beaches To Open For Residents Only And At 50% Capacity

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran signed legislation allowing only county residents to access county beaches. She spoke at Nickerson Beach Wednesday.

“Our taxpayers, our residents are the ones paying the taxes to operate the beach, to make sure that it runs well, and I believe that they should be given priority to use it exclusively.”

Curran laid out the guidelines for visiting county beaches in preparation for their Friday opening.

Beaches may admit up to 50% capacity. Beachgoers are asked to park their cars in every other space, and lay their towels and beach chairs 10 feet away from other groups. They must wear face masks to use restrooms and other beach facilities.
