The New York State Regents exams will be canceled for high school students as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The exams have been a part of the state’s curriculum since first administered in November 1865.  The exams were last cancelled statewide in 1974, when two students were accused of stealing answer keys to the test.

Students who planned to take the exams in June to receive their high school diploma, may be exempt if they meet certain requirements.
