New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says he struggles to find new ways to convince young people to socially distance themselves. Cuomo suggested enacting a law to fine people who don’t follow the guidelines.
The state’s latest projections have the peak of coronavirus patients hitting hospitals at the end of April. Public health officials are saying there aren’t enough ventilators even if people stay home and follow the guidelines, let alone if New Yorkers ignore them. Governor Cuomo chastised at length the large groups of young people photographed around New York City.
“I mean what else do you have to know? What else do you have to hear? Who else has to die for you to understand that you have a responsibility in this?”
Cuomo cited projection models that show a high death rate lasting into the summer. He says people can begin to go back to work once a rapid test is fully developed.
