Nassau County officials say they need to begin preparing now for economic recovery after the coronavirus pandemic.
The county is working with Hofstra University to study the economic impact of the layoffs, furloughs and business closures caused by the pandemic.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says they need this data for the recovery process.
“As dim as that light at the end of the tunnel appears right now, we will find that balance again. Life always finds its balance after every crisis. So let's do what we can to make sure we’re ready to recover as nimbly and quickly as possible.”
She says the data could be used to help get more aid from the federal government.
