Lamont Forms Health System Response Team, Coronavirus Cases Climb

Here’s the latest on the coronavirus outbreak in the region:

Governor Ned Lamont has tapped the CEOs of the three largest hospital systems in Connecticut to serve as co-chairs of his Health System Response Team.

Connecticut health officials plan to choose possible sites for nursing home patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. Officials may also reopen nursing homes to care for only infected residents. 

Connecticut has over 2,570 confirmed cases, with most in Fairfield County. At least 36 people have died statewide. 

New York has nearly 66,500 confirmed cases with more than 13,000 on Long Island. At least 1,218 people have died statewide. 

The Navy ship, the USNS Comfort, has arrived in New York Harbor to offer 1,000 hospital beds and additional health professionals.

Governor Andrew Cuomo called on health care workers across the U.S. to help with New York’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
