New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has mandated that all non-essential businesses end “in office personnel functions” effective Sunday night. Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont issued a similar executive order requiring non-essential personnel to stay home.
Cuomo has identified four sites for field hospitals: SUNY Stony Brook and SUNY Westbury on Long Island, the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, and the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
New York has at least 56 deaths due to the coronavirus, but the number is likely higher, as they only update numbers once a day. The state is reporting 10,356 confirmed cases There are at least 662 in Suffolk, 1,234 in Nassau, 1,387 in Westchester, and 6,211 in New York City.
Connecticut has at least five deaths due to the coronavirus, and reports 223 confirmed cases. 122 are in Fairfield County.
