Bus companies in Connecticut will adopt measures the state says will protect riders and drivers from the coronavirus.
Riders on the state’s CTtransit bus lines will now enter from the rear door, the Department of Transportation says. The lines serve Stamford, Hartford, New Haven and several other parts of the state. And a hundred buses on the busiest routes are now fitted with transparent barriers between drivers and passengers.
Buses on Greater Bridgeport Transit will also use rear door entry. The service says drivers won’t enforce fares.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation says riders should use buses for essential travel only,- but said it’s imperative the system remains operational.
