New Yorkers can expect a 1.81% cap on any school district property tax increase in the next fiscal year. That’s according to data released from State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.
That’s down from a 2% cap in the last two fiscal years.
DiNapoli warned school district and municipal officials to limit spending to stay under the tax cap.
School districts can exceed the cap with two-thirds voter approval of their budgets.
