Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has sought Republican support for his second attempt at a transportation plan. He pitched the revised plan to state Senate Republicans last week.
Lamont gave the Senate Republican minority a private briefing on his revised 10-year $20 billion plan that includes improvements to highway bridges and the Metro-North commuter rail line.
Senate Republican leader Len Fasano says it was a detailed briefing.
“It was a very, very good presentation. It does require tolls on new bridges. Certain new bridges, not all. You know my caucus doesn’t like that. So we have to look at the numbers and see if we come up with maybe another alternative.”
Republicans and some Democratic lawmakers had refused to support Lamont’s initial transportation infrastructure plan because it had included highway tolls.
