Suffolk County has created a new app that will provide users with information on drug addiction and prevention.
Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory says the new app, Stay Alive L.I., is a weapon to fight overdoses.
“Well, as you know, we’ve been facing this challenge of opioid and heroin epidemic, trying to think of ways that would be more useful to folks to have a resource literally in their hands that they can utilize.”
The app will give users access to information on how to recognize and respond to opioid overdose.
It will also include hospital locations and treatment centers, and information on training to administer Narcan.
Stay Alive L.I. is currently available on Android phones, but will soon be available on Apple devices.
