Teens can join the NYSDEC and become a scientist by studying mammals’ skills. Determine the diet, the species and other characteristics of the animal based on observations of the teeth and the shape of the skull. Educators will point out muscle attachments, eye placements, skull size and other characteristics to help students see the animals through its bones. Topics covered include decomposition, adaptations, diet, food chains, conservation, predation and biology. Best for families with children in sixth through twelfth grades.
