It took Johannes Brahms 21 years to write his First Symphony. The second one went much quicker. He composed it during a summer visit to a picturesque lakeside retreat in the Austrian province of Carinthia. We’ll enjoy the sun with Brahms’s idyllic Symphony No. 2, tonight on WSHU. Listen to Evening Classics with Lauren Rico, starting at 8 p.m. on 91.1, 107.5 and wshu.org.

Julie Freddino is WSHU's production director, and she's the host of Sunday Spotlight and producer of Sunday Baroque.
